At the Crescent Practice, the Clinical Psychologists offer a variety of Psychological Services.
The Psychologists are Chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
They provide evidence-based therapies as recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines including; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Third Wave CBT approaches including Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Narrative and Solution Focused Therapies. The approach offered will be driven by the development of an individual formulation of your child’s needs.
As the Psychologists work independently and part time, they do not have access to a multidisciplinary team, crisis support or out of session support. They are not able to offer an urgent response to emergency situations. If these are required, please contact your GP for advice or attend A and E.
The Psychologists are not able to take on clients where there is any level of risk of harm to self or others. Whilst the psychologists must adhere to safeguarding legislation, they are not equipped to work with families under social care and/or where there are ongoing court proceedings. They do not provide an expert witness service.

What are Clinical Psychologists?
Clinical Psychologists have completed Doctoral level qualifications that include specific training in assessment, formulation and delivery of therapy and supervised clinical placements within the National Health Service. Practitioner Psychologist is a protected title and all Psychologists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The British Psychological Society sets out clinical and ethical guidelines for practice.
How do I know that the information that I share will be confidential?
All the information that you share will remain confidential under the ethical and clinical codes of practice outlined by the British Psychological Society. The limits to confidentiality are if you share information that suggests that you or someone else are at risk. In these circumstances we would discuss with you the information sharing that was required to support you to access help appropriately. You may wish to share information with your GP or another Health Professional or Education provider and this can be discussed. Each Psychologist has their own Privacy Notice which they will share with you.
Self-Referrals and referrals from health professionals are accepted.
Following an initial discussion about your requirements you will be invited to attend an initial assessment that takes place over 1-2 sessions. Following this, if appropriate, a specific number of sessions will be contracted with regular reviews. Sessions can be offered in person at the Crescent Practice or online if appropriate.
Referrals can be privately funded or funded through Healthcare Insurance where available. The Psychologists are registered with various Healthcare providers including AXA PPP, Aviva, BUPA, Cigna, WPA and Simply Health. Please do discuss this with the Psychologist and they will ask you to provide your policy number once you have contacted your provider to enquire whether psychological services are covered by your policy. If you have health insurance with an alternative company do please contact to discuss.
Current fees and methods of payment can be discussed with the individual psychologists.
